Did not do it for me.
I’m sorry but if you have sensitive teeth, don’t bother with this product. I tried it for 2 weeks and couldn’t take it anymore, evey time I took the whitestrips off my bottom teeth they would get very sesitive it was so annoying. So if anyone has sensitive teeth I would not recommend this product to you.

Works well for price
I guess i was expecting pearly white teeth, which i didnt get, but my teeth have changed color quite a bit, they are lighter, and shinier. These strips hold amazingly well, no joke, will purchase again, hopefully with better results

Quiet and effective
I knew i needed a humidifier, as i’m just not used to the dry air of east coast winters. But after shopping around on amazon for warm mist humidifiers, i was horrified by the reviews. Every humidifier seemed to be loud, leaky, and a hassle. I ended up getting this one because of the relatively low price, thinking that if it was as bad as all the others, at least i wouldn’t have spent too much on it.

I have no complaints.

On the low setting, it’s about as loud as a pot of water boiling in the next room. On the high setting, it might compete with a pot of water boiling in the same room. Every once in a while it gets a bit talkative, but that’s rare and doesn’t last long. I’m a light sleeper, and this unit never wakes me up.

On the low setting, a full tank of water lasts a little over 24 hours. On the high setting, it goes through in about 8 to 9 hours, perfect to run overnight.

The auto-shutoff works just fine, so i don’t even bother turning it off before i leave the house.

It is a bit annoying to clean the unit, but that has a lot to do with the tap water here being less than perfectly clean. We switched to using filtered water, and now the humidifier is actually our way of knowing when to change the filter. When there’s build-up on the heating element, the filter isn’t working as well anymore.

The daily maintenance takes no more than a few minutes. The weekly maintenance takes longer, but that’s mainly because you throw some of the pieces in to soak. It’s maybe 10 minutes of effort, plus however long you want to soak the pieces.

In all, i’m very glad i purchased this unit. (And the water tank isn’t nearly as blue as it looks in the picture.)

cold and warm humidifiers
I purchased the vicks cool mist humidifier (v3100) while visiting my family in Utah for the holidays. I had a sore throat and that mixed with the heater running and the already very dry air and i was getting up to get a drink 4 times a night. the first night i spent with the humidifier i didn’t get up at all. i decided to leave it there and use it every time i visit, summer or fall. and i liked having a humidifier so much i bought a warm mist one, the v745a for my chicago apartment. here is a comparison of the two.

i bought the cool mist for the desert because it was cheaper and will only be used a few weeks a year but will be both summer and winter. it does blow a lot of cool air and will be especially nice in the summer. some people found it quite loud but i thought it was reasonable and used it on the high setting. but i am also used to sleeping with a fan on during the summer. i liked the fact that its shape is lower to the ground making it difficult to tip over. and the seal for the water tank is easier to open and close all the way to prevent leaks. but even after one week’s use at night the filter is already more yellow than i expected. if i was using it every day i would have to change it very regularly. it also does move a lot of air like i said before, but the vents are low and it seemed like it was blowing all that moist air right under the bed.

i bought the warm mist humidifier for my apartment because i will only be using it in the winter and didn’t want the cold air when my heater is aready working so hard. and i figured it would be more useful during cold season because of the attached medicine cup. it is also for medium/large rooms while the cool mist is for smal/medium so i could move it to my living room if needed. and because i saw the filter on the cool mist got so dirty so fast i liked the fact that this one had no filter, no parts to replace. just weekly cleaning. and the cost difference between this one and the cool mist is about the cost of one filter replacement. it makes very little difference in terms of air temperature, does not heat it up as much as i thought it would, vs the cool mist which did make the room quite a bit cooler. i like the fact that the steam comes out of the top instead of under the bed and it is more quiet than the cool mist even when on the high setting. it does have automatic shut off so i don’t have to worry about it boiling dry. i did some research online about warm vs cool humidifiers before purchasing them, and many recommended cool mist for children because of burn risk from using the warm. even after being on all night the unit is cool to the touch and it has a cooling chamber so even the steam that comes out is unlikely to burn. the only way i think a child could injure themselves with this unit would be if they tipped it over, took it apart and touched the actual heating unit because of the auto shut off. my husband guessed the warm mist might take more electricity to run but we’ll have to see about that.

overall i am a little happier with the warm mist because i need it for winter, it is quieter and needs to filters replaced. but they are both excellent and inexpensive and once you get one you will wonder why you waited so long. (and by the way the cool mist is $29.99 at target and the warm is $34.99, sorry amazon)

“Objective” review
Yesterday I went downtown to look for a humidifier for my bedroom. What I thought would be an easy project turned into one of frustration. I wound up going to three different drug stores to try to get an idea of what to buy. Most of the humidifiers I saw were by Kaz (Vicks), who makes many different models. To make choosing a model supposed easier, somewhere along the line the company put a graph on only some of their model’s boxes to indicate which model to buy based on your needs. (I wanted it for colds and flu). This graph was at one point changed and updated. But the problem is that Kaz doesn’t label their boxes too well as to what model applies to the graph. From what I can tell it is these newer graphs that grade their humidifiers as Best, Better, Good or nothing depending upon the purpose intended. But if you are trying to choose between warm or cool all Kaz tells the consumer is some people prefer the warm mist to the cool mist while some don’t. How this is supposed to help the consumer decide I’ll never know.

Anyhow, I wound up with this model (v745A) because it was supposed to be all purpose and being the winter here in the NE I thought warm rather than cool mist would be better. An added benefit with the warm mist is that you can add an inhalant and with my current cold that would help. I did have some concerns about whether this unit would be enough for my 16×16x10 room. Kaz only labels some of their boxes with the size room the unit is good for but this one does not say. All my observances below were made using this unit on the high setting.

BUILD: The unit itself is built OK nothing more (and I didn’t expect more) but seems a little flimsy.

NOISE: OK, the noise. Come on people, this device boils water for steam, hence the name “Warm Mist”. You should not expect this to be absolutely silent so stop whining. And for those of you with the “Princess and the Pea” syndrome do NOT buy it. But for those who want an idea of what it sounds like from 3 feet away think of it is like the sound of a rainy day or it is like having an aquarium in the room. It is not loud at all (certainly no louder than a fan on low speed) and could be soothing to those who like white noise.

PERFORMANCE: This unit does humidify my bedroom but it does take a while to have its effect, so I would start it before I went to bed. The amount of mist that comes out is probably not as great as if you were boiling water in a soup pan. [Please do not have unrealistic expectations: your room will not to turn into a steam bath and you will not see the mirrors fog up as they do in the bathroom.] Ideally, two of these in my room would probably suit it better. I can not say that the added inhalant has a great effect. I can smell it in the mist as it is coming out right above the unit but would not be aware of it otherwise. Incidentally, Vicks makes a personal model of these, but I would skip it in favor of this one because you could just breath in the vapors as it comes out of the top of this unit for the same effect.

CONCLUSION: Overall I am OK with this purchase. Frankly, I don’t see how anyone could “love” this device or anything like it. It does what it does. I am not sure if another model would have been better. Kaz really needs to make choosing between these models easier. Having used it now I would only recommend a WARM mist for winter use (when most colds and flu occur). It would be too warm and uncomfortable at other times. I have not had it long enough to test its durability.

Used only once, but I feel better than I have for a year
I have been on synthetic thyroid replacement for 22 years and this pill was an experiment after having read the literature on natural glandular supplementation versus synthetic T4 replacement alone. I’ve been feeling tired and run down this past year to the point of sitting and doing nothing, but hey I’m a post-menopausal older gal so there are lots of possibilities of why I felt tired. I took this pill with meal yesterday morning. I had had my usual dose of thyroid medication earlier that a.m.

To my great and happy surprise within an hour I began to feel “normal.” Normal is something that I term feeling alert and ready to do stuff. In fact, I found myself doing stuff spontaneously without thought — usually I think about doing things and then do nothing. Sometime later in the day I began to feel jittery so I was thinking that I had overdone the combination of the pill with my usual thyroid medication, but hey, this is wonderful news.

Today is the second day. I was still going good from the first day so I waited until that tired and rundown feeling came over me again and took the pill around noon-time. Once again I am back to “normal.”

Now I have no clue as to how this is affecting my body, specifically the thyroid arena, and I hate to mess about with this without a doctor, but having been so tired this year and then finding that this product does something rare and special for me, I give it five stars. However, I think the smart thing for me is to check in with my doctor and make sure she gives her okay before taking this on a steady basis.

Five stars.

Update 12/21/07: It has been over a month and I still feel great on this product!

However, I have had to strictly reduce my intake of synthetic T4 — with a doctor’s help hopefully we will get the dosage right. I have been on T4 supplementation only for 22 years and it took a lose-months-in-tiredness funk for a year to snap me into researching T3. For the week I tried Cytomel with my T4 medication I funked-out again, so that wasn’t the answer. This is — if anyone out there has compared this product to Armour, please let me know.

Update, 1/8/08 – Still a great product, but I have cut back to 1/3 of the capsule and building up T4 synthetic hormone slowly using a two-week trial period. My multitasking ability has increased by 150% from the summer’s funk and I can keep working at a high-level of competence until noon, then in afternoon even though energy quality has dropped I can still start and finish simple household errands — what a luxury to be able to finish things!

So the T4:T3 ratio probably still needs tweaking, and I am going to try out the 98:2 percent suggestion made by Dr. Ken Blanchard in his thyroid book.

It is my opinion that anyone on long-term T4 therapy would have to work hard to get the right balance with this product and T4 supplement. I am still totally thrilled that it is on the market.

Update, 6/13/08: Still 5 stars! However, I did switch off of it, but only because I wanted to get onto a prescription item — Armour thyroid –that would provide me a small enough grain size to create the 98:2 ratio described in Ken Blanchard’s book (see p.51).

At the first signs of spring/allergies I became listless again (after six months of success!) and went back to this Raw Thyroid product — again perked right up! This product is more than raw thyroid tissue: It is thyroid tissue, adrenal tissue, spleen tissue, kelp and rice bran.

My new regimen is Armour thyroid, synthetic thyroid and Natural Resources Raw Adrenal, probably just for the summer allergy months. I am not 100% every single day, but I can probably get four really good days and then the rest of the week at 80%. This is VERY very good for me for the summer months. I am not on any allergy medication.

Probably the most telling thing I can say is that I have been without a couch funk since November 2007.

Organic Thyroid
These capsules for low thyroid come from sheep raised organically in New Zealand. They seem to be helping me much more than the synthetic and Armour (from pork) tablets that doctors prescribed for me a number of years ago. They are also quite reasonable. I am almost 60 and can work for long hours because of these and other natural supplements I take.

Raw thyroid is sensational
I was bedridden with chronic fatigue and severe pain in my joints and muscles. My weight was rising even though my eating regimen hadn’t changed to justify the weight gain.

There are not a lot of items you need on Day 1, but you need this
When I suggested to my wife that we needed this item on our baby registry, she thought I was just feeding my gadget habit, baby-style. Having been a night nurse for newborn twins and triplets for years, she thought she would never need this item. Well, this item arrived on the second day after we got home from the hospital – and my wife wishes that she had it on the first.

You see, one of the skills that really suffers with sleep deprivation is math. If you can even mentally keep track of the times or write them down, doing the “hours” math on when our baby last fed, when she had her diaper changed, etc. is really not as easy as it sounds when you’ve had no more than about 45 minutes of continuous sleep for four days. So this does it for you – four timers with little icons and a left/right slider for breastfeeding (which is also a tough thing to remember, but something you really don’t want to forget). It is exceedingly simple – press the icon button and it restarts the timer – perfect for the sleep-deprived mind.

As for the suggestions by some reviewers that this timer needs additional features, such as feeding totals and quantity subtotals, I disagree. I think that additional features would likely take away from the simplicity of the device – making it more complicated to operate on limited brainpower and thus less likely to be used. Those with more complex needs might consider a PDA with a spreadsheet or specially designed program.

It’s not often I get to hear that I was right and my wife was wrong (we’re usually on the same page). This was one of those times.

Must have – they should issue these in hospitals when you give birth
This timer system is beyond helpful – it becomes your BRAIN when you have a newborn, as the hours, feedings and diaper changes become a total blur during this amazing yet totally sleep deprived time of your life. While it would be nice to have a few more features like total ounces drank, whether the diaper was a wet one or a doodie, and tracking of daily totals for everything – that’d be more of a infantcare PDA, and is a bit beyond the scope of this little device. All it aims to be is a timer that will keep track of the key stats in your baby’s life, consequently making your life way easier. I wake up in middle of the night and the baby is grunting, for example. I click the backlight button and see that in fact the baby has only been asleep for an hour, and had a diaper and bottle right before that. Then I just go back to sleep. On the other hand, he beguns grunting and making noises and I see the Itzbeen says it’s been 2 hours 30 minutes since his last bottle or diaper, and I know it’s time to get up and feed him.

It’s also great for team caregiving, as my husband can hand me the Itzbeen after doing his morning shift, and I automatically know when the last change and bottle were. We use the wildcard button to track bottle expirations too.

Thumbs up for the developers of this cool gadget – I hope to see an “Itzbeen II” w/ some advanced features in time for my next baby – although keeping it simple does help keep it easy and quick to use, especially in the fog of a 1am, 3am, and 5am feeding schedule! (my son never got the memo that full term babies are only supposed to eat every 3 or 4 hours

Helpful gadget
Having twins we always had to write down everything, or we wouldn’t remember whom we feed, when we feed them, or any details. We used to keep a chart, but then I received the Itzbeen as a gift. It is so much faster to press a button then to write everything down. When we go out I just toss it in my purse and when the babies start crying I can just pull out the itzbeen look at the timers and figure out if it is time to eat or they are just being fussy. If the boys do eat or require a diaper change, I can record it easily. no more carrying around a clipboard!
I didn’t give it 5 stars because it would be even better if it could track how many oz of formula the babies eat and if it could total the number of hours the baby slept.
But still it is a nice tool for forgetful people. I’m buying a 2nd one, so I have one for each of my twins.

it simply delivers
I first purchased Acai Berry 14-day Cleanse at our nearby Sam’s Club. My husband and i liked it so much and went back to get more only to find it’s no longer available. The original distributor stopped selling it, too. This product produces multiple bowel movements everyday it’s taken. I felt really clean inside and i thought i was pretty regular! It’s gentle–no cramping, no bloating, no gas, and no foul smell. What i like the best is that my stomach is considerably flatter even after 2 days. I never want to go a day w/out this cleanse but per instruction you have to take a break after 2 weeks (otherwise i’d rate it 5 stars).

Finally A Product that Works
I have tried the product a couple of times with several months of a break in between. This is my third try with the fat burner. Before, I was using it to relieve constipation and bloating. Now I’m using it to help with my weight loss. I need to lose 20 lbs. This is my third or fourth day, and I feel amazing. My stomach is going down. I have multiple bowel movements with no cramping or straining. For lunch today, I made my favorite club sandwich and could only eat 1/2 of it. I have noticed the past couple of days, my appetite has decreased. I have even lost a taste for dark colored drinks, including sweet tea. And I have always avowed never to give up my sweet tea. I’m loosing my taste for it. I have switched over to sparkling green tea by Lipton. I have read all about the discouraging news about ACAI, but for me, I’ve decided to not listen, but to use what is working for me. If you are researching a product to help you in your struggles to lose weight or deal with constipation, this is the answer. I struggle with both, and it works. It’s better than the $40 bottle of colon cleanse I got from GNC.

working well for me
I bought the 10 day version of this in a two pack at my local Costco. So far it is working well for me. I feel lighter, my jeans are fitting a little better around my waist and I have noticed a decrease in my appetite. It does promote addition bowel movements, definately more than normal so it must have been stored otherwise? My only complaint is there has been some cramping and gassy feelings. I also have had to urinate more which has been waking me up at night. But overall the results are pretty good considering the cost. I would not say it is a weight loss too, but the cleansing has some of the same positive effects as weight loss.

Mediocre effort to create a cheap sonic brush, better options available
This product attempts to bring sonic toothbrush technology to the sub-$20 price bracket. It does not entirely suceed, and though nicely designed, it is not very effective at its job.

The Sonic toothbrush as invented by Philips uses a high speed pulsing (> 30,000 rpm) to use fluid below the gumline to help vibrate dirt and plack off the teeth. This process is gentle, effective, and leaves the teeth feeling and looking very clean. I’ve used these brushes and they are great.

The downside to this marvel is that Philips charges roughly $80-$130 for their Sonicare brushes. Oral B has their own latecomer Sonic Complete model (which costs about $100) and a number of lower cost designs that use a more conventional oscillating mechanical head to clean teeth.

The problem here is the corners Oral B cut to bring you a $20 sonic brush. The brush vibrates at a much lower speed (20,000 rpm) and though it uses the same brush head as the more expensive Sonic Complete, it does not clean teeth anywhere near as well as a faster sonic brush. The 1/3 speed difference evidently is very significant in the ability of the brush to get the ol chompers clean.

If you want a sonic brush, spend more money than this. If you want a cheaper brush that is fairly effective at cleaning your teeth, try the Oral B Vitality Dual Action ($18) or the Oral B Cross Action Power Max ($12).

The dual power head action of these designs, though not sonic, is a reasonable compromise in getting teeth clean while also keeping price low. The Vitality Sonic just spins its wheels without doing much.

The design and function of the Vitality Sonic is ergonomic and reasonably high quality, but for a low cost cleaning solution, buy something else, and if you want the high-tech sonic experience, then spend more.

Nice try. Well….not quite, actually.
I bought this brush at my CVS a while back, and it seemed like a good deal…16 bucks for a “sonic toothbrush.” I figured the bristles didn’t move too much because it WAS sonic, and it didn’t seem too bad. I just kind of settled for it since I’d never really used a sonic toothbrush before. However, i just recently picked up 2 new Sonicares. A 5500 for my mom as a gift, and an xtreme3000 for myself. HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! This is the feeling eveyone has been talking about! A real sonic toothbrush. I went back to check out my old Vitality and it felt like someone taped a toothbrush to a vibrating pager. THATS HOW MUCH BETTER SONICARE IS. If you can’t afford a good sonicare, the xtreme3000 sells for less than 30 bucks at Wal*mart, and it gets the job done. Even though it’s not as good as the 5500, it’s EXPONENTIALLY better than this vibrating stick.

A sonic toothbrush for a very reasonable price
I am surprised by the number of negative reviews for the Vitality Sonic. It seems a large number of people do not get the concept. Sonic toothbrushes are not the same thing as mechanical brushes where you just hold the handle and your teeth get brushed by some sort of wiggling/rotating mechanism. With a sonic brush you have to move your hands just like with a regular brush, only your teeth get a lot cleaner because of the ultrasonic vibrations. It is also interesting how many people expect to get the same level of cleaning out of this item as ones costing three or four times as much. That is clearly unreasonable. The Vitality does a very good job for the money, and it gets your teeth far cleaner than manual brushing ever could. Couple that with a very nice design, rechargeable battery, two year warranty, and a one year “satisfaction” guarantee, and you see that this is a great buy. Not to mention that this brush is a high quality item made in Germany, not China.

Healthy RAW Snack
Some people say these are a high fat , high calorie , high glycemic , glorified candybar. I say otherwise. Concerning fat, not all fats are equal , some being healthy . Since this bar is raw all of the fat,protein and sugar have not been denatured which means you get the full health benefit. As far as being high calorie , considering how nutrient dense these babies are I don’t consider 200 calories high in calories at all. For me 200 calories is a perfect number allowing it to be used an nutrient dense snack or a quick meal on the go.

Concerning these supposedly being high glycemic , sure , if you were to eat the dates in these by themselves it would be , but the nuts in them bring the glycemic load of the entire bar way down , which is another benefit of the healthy fats in these bars , it allows for the sugars to be released slower and for it to digest slower making you feel full and satisfied longer.

As far as these not being any better than a candybar I say noway! No preservatives, no high fructose corn syrup , etc, in these babies , just a healthy combo of fruit and nuts. How many nutrients does a candybar have ? Now look at the nutrient in these , loaded with minerals . Also, unlike many other foods these aren’t naturally low in nutrients and then “fortified” with man made vitamins and minerals to make them then appear healthy. All the nutrients in these are naturally occuring which gives you the benefits in a synergistic way where other healthy compounds such as flavonoids and phenols work together with naturally occurring vitamins and minerals.

People need to let go of the old dogma which makes them think all fat is bad but if it’s sugar free then it MUST be good. If that were true then cotton candy , pepsi and skittles would all be great for ya !Fruit and nuts makes for a good healthy breakfast or snack. I’ll eat my greens/green smoothies in the other meals of the day. A person shouldn’t eat only fruit and nuts during the day but they shouldn’t only eat greens either . These bars help make it easy to strike a balance in your diet on the go. Larabars, Pure bars , SmartMonkey bars and ThinkOrganic bars are all healthy brands of raw bars that amazon sells and all worth a try . Experiment and see what flavors you like best , or make your own !

A must for dieters
Read about Larabars in a diet book, and I went Larabars’ website. I got several boxes including a variety box. The Pecan Bars are out of this world, tasting amazingly like a pecan pie!
Also great was their cinnamon bun bars. They were very nice in processing and helping me with these orders…BUT
The GREAT NEWS is Amazon has these bars for $5-6 cheaper!

Nutritional information
These bars are one of my favorites. They are the lowest in calories of all the Larabars, too. The cherry pie bar contains just Dates, Almonds, and Unsweetened Cherries. Total calories = 190. Total fat = 9 gm. No sodium. Total carbs = 24g (4g fiber, 17g sugars)

About the Brand
It started out as just a hike, no different than countless others I’ve taken into the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Little did I know I was about to come up with a mountain of an idea: Combine wholesome ingredients such as fruits and nuts to create a food product that’s tasty, healthy and convenient.

In that instant, in May 2000, LÄRABAR was born. After scouring the aisles of grocery stores and noting popular flavors of ice cream and cookies, I delved into my own product development. Natural foods, I believed, should be fun and enjoyable as well as good for you. With friends and family serving as focus groups, I tinkered with recipes until a consensus on yummi-ness was reached.

The next step was to launch a company to market what would initially be five delicious LÄRABAR flavors: Cherry Pie, Apple Pie, Cashew Cookie, Banana Cookie, and Chocolate Coconut Chew. I also assembled a sophisticated manufacturing arm…what amounted to be a Cuisinart and a rolling pin. The first batch of bars I produced for retail had to be sealed by hand – all 500 of them!

Thank goodness we have machines for that job today. After all, we’re producing millions of LÄRABAR’s every year. They are a healthy indulgence you can feel good about eating.

And “feeling good” is what it’s all about. Believe it or not, I used to be a junk food junkie – until I discovered how natural foods enlivened my mind, body and spirit.
